Small

Recently my group of friends just got into an argument while playing 8-player Super Smash Brothers. It was probably over one of the stupidest and funniest reasons why but we all just started cussing each other out and arguing until we migrated outside for a smoke (for me some cigars with a few from the group, another smaller amount of the group was smoking cigarettes, and only 3 friends didn't smoke anything) and then everything that was involved with hating each other just left us. We laid down in my driveway staring at the stars smoking reminiscing about our memories we've made together and when we were all laughing, our friend Jared made us realize that we as a group always argue over the stupidest crap and how petty those arguments were. We realized that we only have so much time together until we graduate, get jobs, and get families of our own. We started predicting each others futures and joking about how we will die and who will be the last of us to go in about 80 years from now. We had a bit of an concern of how we would leave a legacy and if we've done anything significant. Then we realized that we don't care about that. We all have left our mark on each other and thats all that matters. We got back up, went inside, and continued to yell at each other over a video game for the rest of the night, and it was awesome.

Food Glorious Food

Recently in my english class we watched "Fresh", which I thought was about the most annoying Facebook subject of GMO's but instead was about food industrialization and the possible effects of chemicals and how use of chemicals aren't natural. They stated that out food industry is unsustainable with nature and eventually nature will take it back, which is absolutely true. How the dust bowl was started during the great depression was due to poor agriculture techniques that were unregulated.

The thing is is that it is regulated now. This is a Capitalist country with supply and demand as the two commandments for our economic system. Currently there is a demand for foods that are unhealthy and a demand for a surplus of certain foods and regulations are sustaining our supply for the majority need and want. More people are now wanting healthier food, which they may eat, but they still won't get up away from their computer to be active. More people complain about GMO's but don't know what GMO stands for. More people are wanting organic food and want to be positive and help local farmers but it's not enough to become a demand because even though there is a greater amount of people now wanting healthier food, there is still a majority of people who are just fine with what we already have to eat and the price it's at.

It's excellent ideas to eat healthier, but healthy food does not always mean a healthy lifestyle. If someone wants to change the current industry they should get into politics and support the local farmers on a political level and help them still produce a surplus of organic foods. Otherwise, I just went to the doctor, I am considered an unhealthy eater, but I am active and because of that the doctor said my current diet is sustainable for me. There is so much more that is involved for each person beyond "eat healthier" because everyone is different. My need for organic is low, others who are unhealthy DO need it however. So instead of complaining about the industry, think of a solution. I would love to see the small guy take down the big corporations, question is who will lead those people and the lifestyle of change and how can they convince an entire nation?

Lost

Has anyone ever just felt lost? Not in a sense of physical, geographical, direction or lost in a moral dilemma, but lost in another person? It's an ironic subject for me especially since Valentines Day was just yesterday, yet Valentines Day didn't seem anything too special for me this year and that is not at all a bad thing, it's actually a good thing. For Valentines Day, my girlfriend and myself did what we do on a daily basis; had fun. Nothing too special. We went to the Japanese Friendship Garden (where we made friend-zone jokes due to its name), went and saw the Wedding Ringer (because if we wanted to watch 50 Shades of BS we would watch porn instead), went to a new Japanese restaurant called Hana on 7th Ave. and Missouri, then we just went home and watched YouTube videos. It wasn't anything extremely special and thats exactly how we like it.
We don't need to have a specific date to show and tell each other how much we love each other or go do events, we do it everyday. And as we sat on her couch watching Netflix I couldn't stop looking at her. I had always had bad luck with relationships because of assumptions about being a drummer in a band and I always got played for being nice, but with her I have always received the opposite. I feel the same with her as I do drumming. Time flies by me, I loose sense of my surroundings, I am only focused on her and any problems I've had feel as if I'm lifting 500lbs and she turns that into 10lbs. And because of that, I wish to always stay lost.

Final Form: Procrastination

Today for a class project we had to watch a clip from Wall-E with the clip titled Human Dystopia, to relate to our writing projects about technology and its effects on society. Everything has mostly been on the serious side for this project and the clip was a very nice comedic relief from what can easily become a boring subject. I also like how it shows corrupt corporations (isn't Disney one of them?) helping humans evolve into their final form: Lazysapian

I really think Skype, hovercraft, and LaZboy Furniture have a bright future ahead of them based off of Wall-E. I'm not going to lie, if I had one of those chairs it'd be YouTube all day every day where ever I go, but I particularly like how one of the guys falls out of the chair and is like a beached whale being told to wait until a servicebot comes to help him get back into the chair, and like how when the ladies video projection gets turned off she is in awe with whats around her as if she never has noticed her surroundings before. I felt that this scene alone is like people texting and driving or the teenage girls at Arrowhead mall walking and texting, completely oblivious to whats around them. I know I'm guilty.

Music Tendancies

If you've never been to First Friday down in Downtown Phoenix, you need to go. I went with my girlfriend Angelica, my coworker Cristian, Aaron from our old band, A Thought Forgotten, and Aarons girlfriend Paige. It was the first time in quite awhile I went out with friends since I got my new job and started school and it was a much needed break. We went out and started walking around 3rd and Roosevelt looking at all the galleries and (few) bands. We had some food from the Ramen stand, where I got the curry and Yakisobe (beef and pan fried noodles) which was just amazing, got my girl scout cookies, and went around just browsing and running into people we know. We eventually ended up at the Nash, a jazz bar on 1st and Roosevelt and wow, the jazz trio was amazing. In my band A Thought Forgotten I played drums, as well as in high school drumline, concert band, and jazz band. It's been about 3 months since I hopped on the set because of switching jobs and starting school and the drummer for the jazz trio just inspired me. He was very clean, precise, and technical. It's been a long time since I've drummed and this trio made me finally get back on set and wow did it feel good. It felt like I played yesterday and the time on set just felt suspended, time went so slowly but I felt like I did so much and that kind of feeling hasn't happened since I played at the Marquee Theatre. I believe now I will make some time and possibly form a band, creativity can only be held back for so long but the question for me is, will I have the time for such a commitment? Only time will tell for me.

Extra Life

Get plugged in!
Everyone now-a-days are always referring to technology as the most negative thing that could've possibly happened to the human race. Does it have it's down sides? Of course, everything does! With every positive theres a negative, with every praise there's criticism. Don't let my post's title fool you. This post is about how everyone keeps viewing technology as negative but it's really positive. I will be mostly focusing on the outlets most known for criticism in my generation, social networks and video games and I will end this with scientific advancements in the lab and at home.
Can't handle this 90's swagger!

The most common form of criticism of technology is normally around the internet, mainly social networking and even texting. Does this new form of communication have negatives? Yes. A new breed of person is out there called a "Troll" and theres nothing really special about them. Most of them are kids who post discouraging and negative comments on any and all posts they can because theres little to no repercussions to these people, they can say whatever they want sitting in their bedroom and the only thing they get is either blocked or cussed out; and they enjoy it.

Another common complaint about social media and the internet, which is also the most common and can apply to texting as well, is that it makes people "Anti-Social". For me, that is a load of crap. Yes, it makes people talk less in person, but now anyone can instantly talk to anyone around the world (it's like the world wide web has some meaning behind it's name, no way!). I have personally got in contact with old friends I probably will never see face to face again and catch up on how we have been as well as distant family members and making new friends online. I also personally remember when being able to do so was a human achievement, teachers in my elementary school classes blowing our young minds with that we can talk to a real person on the other side of the planet instantly. It's funny how it used to be considered an achievement and now it's considered terrible that it's the social norm.
All these social sources and it's still bad!
Next known for criticism is video games. Keep in mind, home video games started as a family event. You had Atari's in almost every house hold and families would play games together. Then they released the horrible E.T. video game that they produced way more than they could sell and the industry crashed. after that a company named Nintendo brought their Entertainment System over to the U.S. and kept it a family event and video games grew uncontrollably, creating a whole new market for fun. Yet, as the graphics got better the criticism grew. Now, video games look semi realistic, even having Virtual Reality now, and it's a social outing for kids. They can still talk over their games and be extremely creative in games such as 'Minecraft' and play the 21st Century's version of Laser Tag 'Call of Duty'. When I was a kid we played soldier and had toy guns and planes and if 10 year old me had Call of Duty I wouldn't leave my living room either. The kids didn't change, the outlets for playing just did, and it's not all that negative. Blood and gore is in almost every media outlet now, not just video games.
Then theres Pokemon...
This one I'll keep short with the final thing about technology that deserves a lot of credit, the science behind it. Technology didn't just appear from the heavens, it took a lot of time and dedication from people who wanted a better life, medical advancements, making ways to cure boredom, and many more reasons. Whats great is that now, anyone can invent and create advancements at their own time. Because of the internet, because of their technical skills gained from their love of video games; people learn to create and with technology they create great things.
SCIENCE!
